Caribbean Graduate School Of Theology History

OUR HISTORY

Equipping Leaders for Transformative Ministry Since 1986

The Caribbean Graduate School of Theology (CGST) was established in Kingston, Jamaica in 1986, under the sponsorship of the Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association (CETA)—a network of over 50 undergraduate theological institutions across the Caribbean. CGST was born out of a shared vision to raise up spiritually mature and academically equipped leaders who could serve the region with excellence, integrity, and relevance.

A Mission Rooted in Faith and Excellence

From the beginning, CGST has operated as an interdenominational graduate institution, committed to:

  • A Christian worldview
  • Academic excellence
  • Contextual relevance
  • Spiritual formation
  • Practical engagement in ministry and society

With programme accreditation by the University Council of Jamaica and Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association (Accreditation Commission), CGST continues to offer rigorous, biblically grounded graduate programmes designed to serve the unique needs of the Caribbean context.

Regional Reach, Global Impact

In our 39-year history, CGST has prepared hundreds of graduates who are actively serving in leadership roles throughout the Caribbean and beyond. Our alumni are found in:

  • Church leadership
  • Counselling and social work
  • Education and public service
  • Media and communication
  • Business and entrepreneurship
  • International missions

They are pastors, educators, civil servants, broadcasters, counsellors, and change agents—bringing biblical insight to today’s challenges.

Shaping the Future

As we approach our 40th anniversary, CGST remains dedicated to the formation of men and women who are passionate about transforming their communities through the application of biblical truth to all areas of life.

We invite you to become part of this legacy. Let CGST be your partner in preparing for a life of purpose, leadership, and impact in the Caribbean and beyond.
